The research is about the influence of the Italian immigration in the naming process of streets, avenues and public locations in the city of Belo Horizonte. Through the investigation of the toponymical lexicon, this study aimed the rescue of historical and socio-cultural aspects of the capital of Minas Gerais at the time of its construction. The study is based on the Onomastics and Toponymy in the attempt of extracting from a name, the linguistic expression which reflects different aspects of the environment, elements which are susceptible of rebuilding the past. During the research, a decision was made about investigating only antro-toponyms with the objective of verifying, save the incidence, aspects related to the collective memory of the group of people studied.
