Abstract
Os professores do estado entraram em greve porque se tomou impossível continuar trabalhando com o salário indigno que recebem mensalmente de R$ 247,59 para o piso do mais alto posto da carreira. O resultado conhecido é o da evasão de mestres, faltas ao trabalho, queda do nível de ensino. O ensino no estado, que há pouco tempo abrigava a capital da República e era um espelho para todo o país, hoje se encontra em lamentável situação de inferioridade no conjunto dos estados da Federação.
