Conheci Sousa da Silveira em 1940, quando tinha 23 anos. Tendo ele perdido seu assistente, Sílvio Elia, que o deixara para assumir outro posto mais conveniente, mais bem remunerado e efetivo, que conquistara por concurso -tendo perdido seu assistente, o saudoso e sábio Augusto Magne indicou-lhe meu nome para ocupar o lugar vago.
