Desde que Meyer-Lübke publicou, em 1914, o seu conhecido trabalho sobre os antropónimos medievais portugueses de origem germânica1, os nomes de pessoa visigodos da Península, tirante o capítulo respectivo do valioso estudo de P. Aebischer sobre o onomástico catalão dos séc. IX-X2, só voltaram a ser objecto de estudo sob o aspecto dos seus relictos toponímicos3, não obstante o seu valor intrínseco relativo ao conhecimento da própria língua goda, de tradições literárias tão pobres4, e mesmo nulas no que respeita à Hispânia.
