Trata-se de versão italiana da famosa carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha, cidadão do Porto e escrivão da frota cabralina, dirigida a el-rei, D. Manuel 1. Anterior à presente versão, temos outra, do Prof. Sílvio de Castro, catedrático da Universidade de Pádua, a primeira em data. De assinalar o interesse de universitários europeus por um documento que o competente Jaime Cortesão chamou "o auto do descobrimento dO Brasil e da sua posse em nome de Cristo, pela Coroa Portuguesa".
