A língua das "Sextilhas de Frei Antão"

Abstract

As "Sextilhas de Frei Antão" figuram nos Segundos Cantos do poeta Gonçalves Dias (1823-1864 ). Constituem uma série de poemas autônomos ( em relação à primeira parte do livro), encadeados pelo assunto e pelo "estilo". São cinco os poemas, que totalizam 2430 versos heptassílabos, com acentuação interna vária: "Loa da Princeza Sancta", "Gulnare e Mustaphá", "Lenda de Sam Gonçalo", "Soláo do Senhor Rey Dom João", "Soláo de Gonçalo Hermíguez". Professor Titular aposentado de Língua Portuguesa da Faculdade de Letras da UFRJ, do Instituto de Letras da UFF e da Faculdade de Letras daPUC-RJ; professor visitante da Universidade de Coimbra e da Universidade de Tübingen (Alemanha). Autor de vários livros sobre Lingüística, Filologia e Estilística da Língua Portuguesa.
