On this paper we intend to review theoretical concepts about teaching methodology, since it is a constant subject on the teaching area. The goal of this research then is reflecting theoretically about different epistemological presumptions which undergo directly or indirectly the methodological guiding to work with reading, speaking, or writing on Portuguese teaching. In order to do so, we have adopted the dialectic methodology because by relating the binomial theory/practice, we have provided reflections about the teacher theoretical knowledge and his actions on Portuguese teaching
