The present study aims to investigate, through a philological perspective, a handwritten letter from the second of July 1764, belonging to the Public Archive of the State of Mato Grosso (APMT), sent by the city councilors of the Municipal Council of Cuiabá to the Main Captain of the captainship of Mato Grosso, Dom Antonio Rolim de Moura. It will be done its facsimile and semi-diplomatic editions, it will be sought to describe and analyze linguistic, paleographic and codicological aspects, therefore contributing to the recovery and transmission of the written cultural background of a people, a language and a given culture.
