This paper introduces a brief discussion about the prosodic status of augmentative words in Archaic Portuguese (AP), defining them as names with one stress - the word stress. For this, it has been described prosodic phenomenon of stress in augmentative forms in AP, 13th century, by way of Prosodic and Lexical Phonology. The mapping of these forms have been done from 420 religious cantigas in honor of Virgin Mary, called the Cantigas de Santa Maria (CSM), compiled by the Alfonso X, and 431 satirical cantigas, called “cantigas de escárnio e maldizer”.
