Aspectos do léxico português e brasileiro no século xviii
“Pesos e Medidas” no erário mineral (1735), de Luís Gomes Ferreira

This paper aims to inform about the Erario Mineral (1735) as a linguistic source for the study of various lexical fields, including the one of “weights and measures”. Published by Luís Gomes Ferreira, a Portuguese surgeon who lived for twenty years in the Brazilian Mines, this text has a technical and scientific nature, whose scientific medicine and pharmacy is often substituted by a local pharmacopoeia. This study will demonstrate how the author, beyond the lexical units used in Portugal concerning weights and measures, also adapted or created new units or phraseological expressions, thus introducing a “popular terminology” in that lexical field.
