A monotongação do ditongo [ej] no projeto Atlas Linguístico do Brasil
uma abordagem variacionista
Keywords:
diphthong [ej], reduction, Linguistic Atlas of Brazil, linguistic variationAbstract
This research deals with the variable behavior of the diphthong [ej] in the light of variationist sociolinguistics, the data of the Brazilian capitals of North and South Project Linguistic Atlas of Brazil (ALiB). The reduction of the diphthong [ej] is a phenomenon quite productive in the current Brazilian Portuguese and still had its origins in Vulgar Latin. The sample consists of fifty-six informants from nine capitals ALiB. The phonological context after the diphthong, especially tap, is the main determinant of rule and social education is the most important variable.
