Abstract

This paper evidences methodological and paradigmatic diferences between two Onomastics branches: Toponomastics, focused on propial places names and Antroponomastics, devoted to personal names. Although both types of propial name have similar functions, literature review and recent research presented in these paper show that, in Brazil, while toponomics studies consider proprial names as lemma, antroponimics studies prioritize proprial names usages and it´s associative meaning.
