História da linguística
Abstract
RESUMO: O desenvolvimento da história da linguística como uma atividade científica séria tem uma longa história que pode ser rastreada até aos livros didáticos de meados do século XIX e meados do século XX. É, no entanto, somente desde a década de 1970 que a história da linguística / das ciências da linguagem se tornou uma subdisciplina da linguística, em geral, e um assunto ao qual um aluno iniciante da disciplina seria introduzido como parte integrante da sua educação. Neste artigo distinguem-se e discutem-se quatro abordagens principais para escrever a história da linguística: I, a história de compilação, que apresenta os resultados de procedimentos estabelecidos dentro da disciplina; II, a história revolucionária, concebida como propaganda para um novo paradigma; III, a história construtiva não-partidária, que enfatiza a continuidade e o progresso na disciplina; e IV, a historiografia da linguística, uma abordagem relativamente nova, que procura tratar a história da linguística como um esforço académico no seu próprio direito, podendo também pode informar sobre o trabalho em outras subdisciplinas linguísticas.
