This historical text reproduces, with spelling updates, the thesis presented by Manuel Said Ali to the committee designated by the Military School of Rio de Janeiro within the scope of the competition to fill the position of professor of German language and literature. It is a precious source of historiographical research for specialists dedicated to investigating the course of linguistic thought Brazil and the theses espoused by Manuel Said Ali with regard to comparative grammar.
